Meet Randy:

Randy A. Garrison is a lifelong resident of Hartselle, Alabama, with a deep commitment to his family, his community, and public service. He has served as Mayor of Hartselle since 2016 and was re-elected unopposed in 2020. Prior to his role as mayor, he spent 14 years as publisher of the Hartselle Enquirer.

​

Randy is a proud graduate of Morgan County High School (now Hartselle High School) and Athens State University. He has pursued extensive training in municipal leadership and economic development, including certifications from the Alabama League of Municipalities, Auburn University’s Government & Economic Development Institute, and the Alabama City County Management Association.

​

His service extends beyond City Hall. Randy has held leadership roles in numerous civic and professional organizations. He is a past president of the Alabama League of Municipalities (2023–2024) and continues to serve on its Board of Directors and Executive Committee. He also serves on the boards of the Alabama Mutual Insurance Corporation (AMIC), Decatur Morgan County Community Free Clinic, and the North Alabama Regional Council of Governments, among others.​

An active member of First Methodist Church in Hartselle, Randy sings in the Chancel Choir and participates in community outreach. He also serves as Secretary of the Hartselle Kiwanis Club, is a member of the Rotary Club, and contributes to the Hartselle Alumni Association and Educator Hall of Fame.

Randy has been married to his wife, Lynn (Brown) Garrison, for 39 years. Together, they’ve raised two sons: Jordan, a pharmacist at UAB Hospital, and Jacob, a senior project manager at Brasfield & Gorrie. Randy and Lynn cherish their 4 grandchildren: Jack, Olivia, Frances Lynn, and George.

In his free time, Randy enjoys gardening, landscaping, walking, running, reading, Bible study, beach trips, and spending quality time with his grandchildren.

From Main Street to Morgan Center, Randy Garrison is delivering for Hartselle. As your mayor, Randy has focused on what matters: safe neighborhoods, smart growth, strong schools, and a high quality of life. 

Randy Has Delivered Results for Hartselle:

Randy has consistently balanced the city’s budget each year in office, growing it from $10.9 million to $18.7 million—reflecting responsible fiscal management and smart planning.

He’s prioritized public safety by upgrading equipment in every department. A brand-new fire station is also in progress, ensuring faster response times and improved service.

​

Across the city, infrastructure has improved under his leadership. Roads, traffic signals, and drainage systems have been upgraded, and lighting enhancements have been made at major intersections like Highways 36 and 65.

​

Randy has championed smart, sustainable growth. By supporting local businesses and attracting new development, the city has issued over $60 million in building permits since 2023. He’s also helped recruit new housing and retail projects to meet the needs of a growing population.

​

When it comes to education, Randy has supported critical school funding—without raising taxes. His leadership lead the way to building Crestline Elementary and helped advance plans for a new intermediate school and athletic facility, investing in the future of Hartselle’s youth.

RANDY'S VISION

Randy Will Continue to Deliver Results for Hartselle:

Randy is committed to enhancing Hartselle’s quality of life by investing in parks, recreation, and public spaces. He will work to install turf athletic fields, allowing for year-round play regardless of weather conditions, and put the city's Parks Master Plan into action. This includes upgrading current park facilities, adding much-needed parking, and completing new pedestrian pathways connecting Sparkman Park to Hartselle High School.

A priority for Randy is beautifying downtown Hartselle—making it more welcoming for residents and visitors alike. He will also see through the completion of the new public library and event center, creating a vibrant community space for all ages.

​

Randy understands that strong infrastructure is essential for a thriving city. He will oversee the completion of Hartselle’s new, modern fire station and actively pursue federal and state funding for sidewalks, road improvements, and safety upgrades.

​

Through strong relationships with local, state, and federal partners, Randy will continue to bring new investments into Hartselle. His focus remains on long-term improvements that strengthen the city’s foundation and prepare it for a successful future.
